ALL PRESEASON PROGRAMS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY

TIME TO COMBAT THE SPREAD

Dear KBSC Parent/Guardian:

It is with apprehension that we are contacting all of you to state that in the best interest of our KB community, we will be suspending our pre-season program to combat the escalating cases of COVID-19 on Key Biscayne. Like most of you, we were excited to bring back the soccer programs and we appreciate the overwhelming support. Although, we followed the CDC guidelines and implemented safe practices to ensure the safety of our children, COVID-19 has no limits. Over the past week we have witnessed a significant rise in cases on KB and many parents were expressing their concern. Therefore, in order to help the community reverse the growing spread, we are halting our trainings indefinitely. We will reevaluate the situation on July 27th and determine whether the community is ready to resume play.

Within the last 24 hours we learned about two positive COVID cases that directly impacted our soccer programs. In the first case, a member of the Boys U14/2007 team tested positive for COVID-19. Although the child has not been in contact with any players for 2 weeks, we notified the parents and acted immediately upon notification. In the second case, one of our coaches tested positive and we are notifying staff and players accordingly. We are taking all of the precautionary measures and the Village of Key Biscayne has been notified. In response to these confirmed positive reports, KBSC has implemented CDC, state, and local guidelines, which include the following measures and actions:

·         reporting the incident, timing of infection, and a proposed remediation plan to relevant authorities;

·         informing parent/legal guardians and affected employees about any potential contact the children or staff may have had with confirmed cases;

·         monitoring all persons and reviewing safety protocols to ensure compliance.

Individuals who have tested positive may not return to the program until they have met isolation and recovery guidelines for the virus, including obtaining clearance from a medical professional as being COVID-19 free.

Many of you have registered for Pre-Season Session 2. We will refund your money and ask that you not attend today’s scheduled sessions. In addition, all of our coaches will be tested this week. Everyone should be very careful who they are in contact with, wash your hands regularly, wear a mask in public places, maintain social distancing and do your part to help decrease the spread. Now, more than ever, we need to come together and act responsibly to restore the lifestyle we cherish.

At KBSC, our priority will always be the safety and well-being of our participants, families, and staff. We will keep you informed of any new developments as they happen. Please note that due to federal and state law, we cannot divulge the identity of the individuals. Please feel free to contact Marcelo Radice at 305-608-6046, if you might have any questions of concerns or know of any other players infected or testing positive for COVID-19, please contact us. We will maintain the information confidential, alert the proper parents, staff, and authorities to help with contact tracing.

Regards,

Marcelo Radice
